VASE CHOU

For his first collaboration with the Manufacture des Emaux de Longwy 1798, Pierre Gonalons endeavored to reinterpret the large decorative collector's vase, an object which has been at the heart of the production of our Manufacture since the 19th century, a period which fascinates the designer.
The conceptual idea of this vase is based on color which itself becomes form and vice versa. In contrast to a decor integrated into a predefined form, Pierre Gonalons wanted to treat them equally.
The name of this creation, Chou, takes us back to childhood memories of indulgence, to cream puffs.
The very dynamic shape of the spiral evokes fun themes such as confectionery or baking. It also refers to twisted flutes, a decoration from Antiquity and which has spanned all periods of Decorative Arts.
